Ruth Aspy, Ph.D.
Licensed Specialist in School Psychology
Ruth Aspy, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist in private practice with the Ziggurat Group. Dr. Aspy specializes in assessment and intervention for individuals with autism spectrum disorder. She is co creator of a comprehensive model of intervention. Along with Dr. Barry Grossman, Dr. Aspy has written The Ziggurat Model, winner of the 2008 ASA award for outstanding book of the year. Dr. Aspy speaks internationally. She has experience in both the clinic and school settings.
Barry G. Grossman, Ph.D.
Licensed Specialist in School Psychology
Barry G. Grossman, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist and author. He specializes in assessment and intervention for individuals with autism spectrum disorders. Dr. Grossman, along with Dr. Aspy, wrote The Ziggurat Model—a book on designing interventions for students with High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder. He and his co-author present on this model nationally. The Ziggurat Model has been adopted at the district-wide and state-wide levels.
Brenda Smith Myles Ph.D.
Brenda Smith Myles Ph.D., a consultant with the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence (OCALI) and the Ziggurat Group, is the recipient of the Autism Society of America’s Outstanding Professional Award, the Princeton Fellowship Award, and the Council for Exceptional Children, Division on Developmental Disabilities Burton Blatt Humanitarian Award. Brenda has made over 1000 presentations all over the world and written more than 200 articles and books on ASD. In addition, she served as the co-chair of the National ASD Teacher Standards Committee; was on the National Institute of Mental Health’s Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee’s Strategic Planning Consortium; and collaborated with the National Professional Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders, National Autism Center, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services who identified evidenced based practices for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and served as Project Director for the Texas Autism Resource Guide for Teachers (TARGET). Myles is also on the executive boards of several organizations, including the Scientific Council of the Organization for Autism Research (SCORE) and ASTEP – Asperger Syndrome Training and Education Program. Further, in the latest survey conducted by the University of Texas, she was acknowledged as the second most productive applied researcher in ASD in the world.
Nicole Brin, M.A., CCC-SLP
Speech and Language Pathologist
Nicole Brin, M.A., CCC-SLP earned her masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of North Texas. She has worked for over a decade across several interventional settings. She works with children (birth – 18 years old) as well as adults. Nicole has worked in the Texas public schools, private clinic, and pediatric hospital settings. She enjoys working with young children in order to encourage development of overall communication skills as well as with older children who benefit from rehabilitation in the areas of speech and language. Nicole has extensive experience in the areas of infant feeding, feeding therapy with “selective eaters” as well as evaluations and interventions with children and adults on the autism spectrum.
Susan B. Jamieson, M.Ed. RPED
Registered Professional Educational Diagnostician
Susan Jamieson, M.Ed. is a Registered Professional Educational Diagnostician who has worked in Special Education in the state of Texas for over 35 years. She served as a Special Education Administrator for twenty years. Susan has also worked as a special education teacher and as an educational diagnostician with students 3-21 years. She has experience with team evaluations specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorders. Susan received her Masters of Education and various educational certifications from Texas Woman’s University.
Penny C. Woods, M.S.Ed.
Penny C. Woods, M.S. received her bachelor’s degree in special education and her master’s degree in educational psychology from Baylor University. She has extensive experience working in the public schools as a behavior specialist, special education teacher, and an educational diagnostician. Mrs. Woods specializes in autism team assessments and providing intellectual and educational assessments for children and adolescents.
Dawn Olivares, BSOT, OTR
Dawn Olivares, BSOT, OTR, is a board certified, licensed Occupational Therapist who earned her degree in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University in 1997. She specializes in pediatrics and sensory-motor applications for functional outcomes. Dawn has experience working in public schools, private home-based therapy, pediatric home healthcare, and presenting to preschools, school staff, and other therapists. She also works with The Ziggurat Group as part of the Autism Assessment Team and has extensive experience in developing sensory diets for children with ASD. In addition, Dawn is an ACE-certified fitness nutrition specialist and group fitness instructor specializing in yoga.
Angela Medrano, M.O.T., OTR
Angela Medrano, M.O.T., OTR is an occupational therapist. She has worked extensively in pediatrics in the clinic, hospital, and school settings. One area of specialty is autism assessment and intervention. Angela is SIPT (Sensory Integration and Praxis Test) certified and specializes in the treatment of sensory processing disorders.
